Isla studied software engineering alongside an arts degree in Japanese and political science at the University of Canterbury. She specialises in web development and artificial intelligence. While new as a full-time employee at Ember, she previously worked as an intern on the GreenHalo project.

As someone who loved math and logic puzzles growing up, she enjoys when her work pushes her towards finding challenging and creative solutions to new problems. 

Outside of work, she loves to read, relax with her cats, and play many video games.
