Where do I start? Turn to AI & Scale

If you run a small to medium business in New Zealand, AI is aimed at you more than anyone, but nobody is saying so.

Most of the noise about AI comes from large enterprise, where change is slowest. The Silicon Valley tech giants and others are ring-fencing their position because they can see the risk: SMEs adopting AI and scaling faster than they can. Overseas that has meant lay-offs to fund AI investment. But for New Zealand SMEs, it doesn't have to.

Our investments are smaller, and we're the right size to move. Kiwi firms can scale without the growing pains of 2013: not by cutting people, but by never needing to add unnecessary headcount in the first place.

New Zealand dropped to 23rd in the 2025 Network Readiness Index, and TUANZ's 2026 report has our digital leaders rating our progress a six out of ten. We've plateaued. The real barrier isn't cost or capability. It's that plenty of owners quietly use AI at home and freeze at the office, because the first question is the hardest: where do I start? The trick is to look at where you would bring more people into your business if there was a much smaller cost barrier.
