Microsoft Copilot is Launching Cowork

You may already be using Microsoft Copilot, and its pros and cons are discussed in a recent blog.  One of Copilot's biggest drawbacks is how basic it is.  That is about to change.

Microsoft Copilot Cowork is a new capability within Microsoft 365 Copilot designed to move beyond answering questions and drafting content.  It takes real action on your behalf.  Where standard Copilot helps you find answers, Cowork executes tasks, runs workflows, and coordinates work across Microsoft 365.

Users describe the outcome they want, and Cowork builds a plan that runs in the background, with checkpoints allowing users to review, approve, pause, or redirect at any time.  Practical use cases include calendar management, meeting preparation, company research, and product launch planning.  Usable outputs rather than isolated drafts.

Notably, Microsoft built Cowork in collaboration with Anthropic, integrating the technology behind Claude Cowork into Microsoft 365 Copilot.
