Charlotte Becconsall was appointed General Manager of Ember Technology in May 2025. Since joining Ember Technology in 2020, Charlotte has become one of the driving forces behind the company’s innovation and digital transformation capability.

Charlotte completed her Mechatronics Engineering degree with Honors from the University of Canterbury and also holds a diploma in Languages in Spanish and Russian – an early indication of curiosity, adaptability and the ability to connect across disciplines. Over the past five years at Ember, she has built a career defined by technical depth, strategic thinking, and a genuine commitment to helping organisations move forward.

Charlotte began her Ember journey in software development before becoming the first dedicated hire for the newly formed innovation team. In its early days, she played a central role in shaping the service from the ground up. This meant working across workflow automation, data engineering, and dashboarding, while also stepping into product management through the GreenHalo initiative. As the team expanded, she moved from technical delivery into leadership, eventually transitioning into General Manager of Ember Technology. Charlotte’s new role is a testament to both her capability and the trust she has earned within the business.

Today, you’ll often find her partnering with large enterprise clients, helping them understand how digital tools, AI, automation, and emerging technologies can shape their strategic direction. Her strength lies in translating big-picture goals into digital pathways. Charlotte is passionate about working alongside organisations to refine opportunities, experiment quickly, and create solutions that deliver real value rather than sunk cost. She resonates strongly with agile methodologies, championing an approach grounded in collaboration, continuous testing, and shared wins.

However, Charlotte is not all tech though, beyond Ember, she continues to broaden her governance and leadership experience through her role on the Board of Surf Life Saving New Zealand, giving her a unique perspective across governance, strategy, and operational realities. Outside of work, she is deeply involved in surf lifesaving and multisport, often found paddling, racing, or exploring the mountains. She’s currently training for the Coast to Coast with her mum – the mother-daughter duo is strong!

Overall, Charlotte’s journey at Ember has been defined by innovation, leadership, and an unwavering focus on helping organisations get the most out of the technologies shaping the future.

Unpopular Opinion: you should never need more than a carry-on suitcase when travelling!
